How we calculate
Every ingredient line in every recipe has a weight in grams (meat raw, pasta and grains dry, beans drained). We multiply those grams by per-100 g nutrient values from USDA FoodData Central (SR Legacy, public domain), add them up, and divide by the number of servings.
389 pantry ingredients are mapped to USDA entries. A handful of modern products USDA doesn't list — chickpea pasta, high-fiber tortillas, protein powder — use typical label values, marked in our data.
Imported recipes go through the same pantry: each line is parsed, matched and converted to grams with USDA portion weights. Lines we can't match are shown and excluded from totals.
Protein targets: body weight × 1.6 g/kg (muscle), 1.8 (fat loss), 1.4 (high-protein eating), 1.2 (general). Sources: Morton et al. 2018, Jäger et al. 2017 (ISSN). Internal cooking temperatures follow the USDA safe minimum temperature chart.
Numbers are estimates — brands, cuts and portioning vary. Feast Mode is a cooking app, not medical advice.
Join the waitlist: one email the day it’s on the App Store, then occasional high-protein recipes.
We’ll email the day Feast Mode is on the App Store. Until then, the recipes are open.
